Setting up goals for 2010.

After writing down what I feel were the most important things in 2009. it’s time to write down a set of goals for 2010. Out of 28 goals set for 2009. I completed only 2 so hopefully this will be a guideline I’ll stick to better.

One of the first things I have planned is a new design related startup. Well, a website / online shop. Top secret for now, but will bring in a dash of fresh air into the PSD 2 HTML scene. And save a lot of businesses a lot of time and money. I might even sell / close Image2Markup. (Interested in buying?)

February is the time when I’ll start getting in shape for the following summer. I’ve gained over 15 kg (~30 pounds) in the past two years and it’s time to loose some of that weight. I’m going back to Thai box.

I have planned to enter two competitions, Microsofts Dream.Build.Play! but that just might stop at the Dream part. The competition ends in March, too early for a novice 3D programmer like me to both design and code a game from zero. This also means I have to learn 3ds max very very fast in order to produce high quality scenes for the game.

March is the time when I plan on hunting for a new bike. One that will last me longer then one day.

The second competition is SeedCamp. I hope it willl be in Ljubljana again (like it was in 2009). I have a very cool idea under development at the moment and I plan to raise some seed money to bring it to life. SeedCamp is the perfect place to look for /seed/ funding. (Interested in funding me now? Email me.)

Following the previous post, I’ll continue to explore new platforms, Python / Django and Microsoft MVC stack seem good, but I don’t plan on switching to anything new before June.

I have plans to visit Tuscany in June / July. I saw pictures of it in a travel catalog and told myself “I need to go there”.

August brings a new trip – Provence. It’s just as beautiful as Tuscany. And a bit more expensive. (So far I need at least $2.000 just to visit these two places).

Once I’m back it will be time to get real. I plan on leaving the freelance life, starting a new company and dedicating myself to building something for the long term.

September should mark the start of my other planned startup. It’s a mix and match of 3 different websites under one brand. All 3 websites aim at web developers / web site owners and will help them provide better services to their customers. I pitched the idea to several /business/ people and all agree – it’s going to be awesome.

I’d like to visit Vienna again for Christmas 2010. It’s a really beautiful city.

I plan to blog at least once a week. Probably even more often as I have two weekly categories for developers lined up. The blog will be more about trends on the web and less about me.

I hope I won’t give up on movies and games. If anything, I’ll play even more. There’s a lot of RPG’s waiting for me. Maybe I’ll even finally finish Morrowind.

I do plan on giving up on Cola and sweets. I’ve cut down significantly, but it’s time to throw that away for good. I’ll start drinking tea like Kevin Rose.

There, only 20 goals for 2010. Wish me luck!

  1. I write my goals down in a 2010 goals booklet. It is always in my wallet and I review it regularly. It keeps me focused on what really matters to me.

    Enjoy and success!
